What: Secrets of Successful Pranayama Instructor: Tom Abrehamson Date: Saturday, December 16th, 1:30pm - 3:30pm and January 20th, 3:30pm – 5:30 pm Price: $20 if pre-paid
Please note, the session on December 16th is now sold out. We are taking names for the wait-list or we encourage people to sign up for the session on Saturday, January 20th. Practicing yoga’s breathing techniques, or “pranayama,” is often more potent than practicing just poses. Together with the poses, and in conjunction with meditation, pranayama can be life-changing. Pranayama needs to be practiced regularly to achieve full effect. This workshop will enable you to construct a daily home practice. The workshop will first introduce you to, or deepen your knowledge of, several different kinds of yogic breathing techniques. There will be a handout. You may bring a notebook. Then, sitting in chairs, we will have an actual pranayama session of at least 40 minutes. Attending this workshop will fully prepare you for the weekly pranayama class Tom begins teaching in January. No experience is necessary. Wear comfortable clothes (your normal yoga clothing is fine). Bring a small cushion if you wish, to be used during the session. To register, please call 650.941.9642 or e-mail info@yogaoflosaltos.com. Tom Abrehamson has a BA from Princeton and a JD law degree and has studied Iyengar Yoga since the 1980s. He has taught over 4000 classes in the mid-peninsula area since 2000 and has taken over 450 hours of teacher training with, among others, Manouso Manos, Aadil Palkhivala and Elise Miller. Tom teaches an "Iyengar-based" class. Tom's classes are mixed-level classes that afford both beginners and more advanced students the opportunity to work at their own levels. His classes combine precise instruction with individualized attention and gentle humor. His students work hard, make progress and have fun. Tom has taught at Yoga of Los Altos since its inception having had 11,000 students in his classes over the last 3 years. Tom includes pranayama in his classes on a regular basis and this workshop in an extension of his work in this domain.
