Instructor: Ben Thomas
Price: $50 if prepaid or $60 at the door
Dates and Time: Saturday, January 17th 1:30pm - 4:00pm

In this workshop Ben will focus on the "Evolving aspects of the sustained Practice".

To establishing a well balanced personal practice, it is important for students to develop habits of concentration and a dedication to the work. The practice evolves as the student evolves.

Ben's workshop will focus on many important aspects of a "sustainable practice":

  • the on-going physical development

  • building the desire to practice using the body, mind, and the breath.

  • how a practice evolves over time

  • what to expect as a practice evolves

  • what changes with a dedicated practice

Ben will continue to teach the skills for developing a mental focus and intention while practicing.

In this workshop, Ben will then reflect on the effect of a sustained practice with a specific attention to the life benefits.

    What: Passive and Active Backbends
    Instructor: Osha Hanfling
Price: $45 if prepaid or $55 at the door
    Dates and Time: Saturday, January 24th 2:00pm - 4:30pm

In this workshop we will work with asanas that prepare us and take us into passive and active backbends. We will learn what postures follow backbends.

Backbends are rejuvenating and uplifting. They give us courage, and move us into healthy emotional states. They open the chest reavealing our deepest emotional and spiritual heart. Backbends bring alertness to the mind and the body.

In normal life the the spine degenerates, bending backwards counteracts this process. The spine becomes pliable while the mind remains alert and cheerful.

"Freedom comes when every part of the body is active.Let us be free in whatever posture we are doing . Let us be full in whatever we do." B. K. S. Iyengar....

Students must have at least six months yoga experience to join this workshop.

As we learn to silence and pacify the brain, the inner ears soften and the gateways to listen to the innermost being are wide open. We will explore the multifaceted meanings of this ever lasting spirit/ sound AUM and Sutra I.28 as this sutra conveys the devotional aspect of the seed mantra AUM.

    What: Pranayama Class
    Instructor: Birgit Reimer
    Price: $25
    Dates and Time: Saturday, February 7th 1:30pm - 3:30pm

This class will be held once a month.

ALL levels of Yoga students that wish to explore the BREATH and PRANA are welcomed. According to Sage Patanjali, pranayama is the 4th aspect of the 8 interrelated limbs of Yoga.

Prana means life force, bio-force (B.K.S.Iyengar), divine energy…
Ayama is translated as prolongation, restraint, control, regulation …
Pranayama is the practice of the consciously, mind-and skillfully and volunteered control, restraint and prolongation of the breath AND prana.

The learning process will begin with a SOLID FOUNDATION. We will learn about the physical actions and movements of the lungs, ribcage, skin etc.., and about the subtle travels of the self- created energy through the various techniques of pranayama.

There are many different pranayama techniques and levels, and as almost with everything in life we want to build our knowledge and life experiences on a solid foundation. This science works on the subtleties of the body and mind as they relate to the nervous-system, the emotions and the flow of awareness and energy.
