Sun Salutations and Vinyasa Sequences
We will review standing poses, balance poses, twists and forward fold. We will then sequence them into a series of poses. The pace of this flow of poses will be appropriate for beginning level students.
We will then take time to cool down the body and then end with a yoga nidra session (yogic sleep). This will allow students to experience massive relaxation.
The focus of the workshop will be on "the basics". The class will be conducted at a pace appropriate for beginners. The goal of the class is to help students feel comfortable with the primary poses and give you a solid enough background to start taking Level 1 or Level 1-2 classes with confidence.
Students should wear comfortable clothes that you can stretch in.
No previous yoga experience is required, though it will be appropriate as a refresher for those that have some preliminary yoga background.
This work will be helpful for new students or students that would like a basic refresher.

Give yourself the gift of health and well-being by giving yourself time to truly relax. Yoga practiced in a restorative fashion is designed to help to release chronic stress. This focus provides the body an opportunity to renew and heal.
Blankets, bolsters and blocks will be used for support to give the body the ability to hold poses longer, allowing your body to open deeply through prolonged stretching. Students will leave the workshop feeling deeply rested, refreshed and renewed.
If you have a mat and an eye pillow, bring them.
This workshop is appropriate for all levels, including beginners.

ANATOMY, ALIGNMENT & ASANA: TOOLS TO HEAL AND PREVENT INJURIES
This workshop series is designed specifically to help students gain a deeper understanding of how common misalignments in the physical body create all types of injuries and offer the tools needed to start healing immediately.
Amy will teach anatomy as it relates to common injuries. Amy’s ability to see the physical body clearly along with her simple and precise use of the Universal Principles of Alignment of Anusara Yoga, helps to remove the “mystery” of pain and injury and actually makes getting out of pain joyous!
Saturday, Feb 18 - 1:30pm
KEY ALIGNMENT POINTS OF THE UPPER BODY
This workshop will focus on opening the upper back (thoracic spine) and shoulders. The thoracic spine is by nature more inflexible, and can contribute to increased stress on the neck and shoulders. Learn what your rotator cuff muscles are, what they do to keep you safe, as learn how to access these muscles through isolated therapeutic exercise.
Saturday, Mar 17 - 1:30pm
LOWER BACK & SACROLIAC DYSFUNCTION
The bridge between the upper and lower body is the core, the lumbopelvic region.
Hip opening and flexibility in the upper back take stress off the lower back. By attending the previous two workshops, you will gain a deeper understanding of techniques to protect and strengthen your core. Learn the anatomy of the low back, sacroiliac joints and how to strengthen key muscles that protect the lumbopelvic region.
Prior focus on the hips and shoulders makes sense, as they are the gateways to the core. The hips help us stay connected to the Earth, and the shoulders are the doorway to the heart, so each are critical in maintaining a functional, well aligned body.
************
Please bring your questions, and learn to align your body to not only feel better throughout your day, but also progress safely and intelligently in your asana practice.
All levels welcome, including beginners!
Bottom line is that Good Alignment = Good Therapy
When your thoughts move in a healthy direction and you are able to correct your alignment, you can move through the world more centered and open.
